TRIYOGA - Chelsea
TIME: 19:30 - 21:30

Part of a series of workshops that will give you the opportunity to experience how the way we practice can change the way we feel energetically.

Each workshop should help us move in a way that is kind and compassionate to ourselves, recognising that we are all individual and therefore so is our practice.

This workshop explores the expansive feelings of opening up the sides of the body, lifting your mood and the way that you see the world. By opening up the sides (laterals) you will be able to notice how this allows us to expand and open the chest, the intercostal muscles and the space between the pelvis and the ribs. It will release tension in the waist and lower back whilst promoting a deep energising feeling.

By paying attention to the breath, being aware of our tendency to hold the breath when the practices become challenging which can stop the flow of Prana.

We will practice samavritti smooth fluid and even breathing that creates balance. The practice will be dynamic with strong standing postures, breathwork and meditation.

A day workshop to help with your cancer diagnosis.

This one day workshop is open to anyone who has been given a cancer diagnosis, whether you are currently in treatment or are years out of treatment. Join Vicky Fox and learn tools that can help you build strength, increase range of motion, release tension and find the techniques that work best for you to find more space between your thoughts. The day will empower you to take back some control and we will start with some simple breathing techniques that will help you shift from the "fight or flight" response you may have had since diagnosis to one where the mind feels more calm. The morning will also include a gentle asana practice opening and strengthening the physical body. After lunch we will look at the benefit of doing nothing. Restorative poses that will support you and help with feelings of exhaustion and nausea.

For the ultimate in relaxation we will end the day with a yoga nidra (yogic sleep) which is a guided relaxation and form of meditation.

Taking part in this workshop will help to enhance your feeling of well-being, decrease anxiety and stress and enhance energy. All you need to participate is to be reasonably mobile and be able to move independently . The practice is YOUR practice. You will be in a safe, calm and warm environment where you will be encouraged to listen to your body and to do what you feel is right for you.

This workshops focuses on the enlivening yet calming qualities of twists that stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system and create a quieting (langhana) energetic feel yet whilst cultivating the pranavayu of Samana which can be invigorating and cleansing. Samana is circulatory, firey and helps us to digest not only our food but our thoughts and feelings so that rather than holding on we can let go of held stuff.

We will use kapalabati breathwork to create some heat and awareness of our core and by drawing ourself inwards to our centre it allows you to move outwards in a more conscious and compassionate way. Dynamic Twisting, Breathing, Meditation.

Part of a series of workshops that will give you the opportunity to experience how the way we practice can change the way we feel energetically.

Each workshop should help us move in a way that is kind and compassionate to ourselves, recognising that we are all individual and therefore so is our practice.

Exploring how Vyana one of the pranavayus (winds) expands out from the heart centre we will work with opening the chest, finding length in the spine and strength in the legs to support our back bends. This invigorating practice stimulates the sympathetic nervous system and builds energy within a stabilising safe environment.

This workshop teaches how to be kind and compassionate. How you can find this expansive opening of the heart without force and by using the strength of the core and legs we can achieve the energising results without huge massive movements that could cause injury. Creating stability in the body but also in the mind by using the breath.

We will finish the workshop by focusing on Kumbhaka pranayama holding the breath after inhale to observe the sensations of vital energy expanding from the heart. Then restorative poses before a well deserved savasana so that you can leave the workshop with a quieter mind and an open heart.

Poses Conscious backbends, restorative poses, breathing and mediation.
